Baby Jenna was so beautiful; she loved being held, and I loved having the opportunity to hold her! I’m totally hooked on photographing newborns. The little fingers and toes and eyelashes! So, so adorable. Jenna was ten days old when we did her newborn portraits, and still curly and squishy. I can’t wait to come back for your 3 month photos!
What a beautiful family!
I met Kristen and Andrew through the Walk for Autism Awareness in Grand Rapids. ASK (Autism Support of Kent County) holds the walk each year as a fundraiser for their services and this year I was one of the sponsors. Kristen bid on the portrait package I donated for the silent auction and the rest, as they say, is history!
We decided to meet at the Ada Covered Bridge for a portrait session, and though the day was a bit cloudy and chilly, everything was brilliantly, beautifully green. I love spring. It is a season of hope.
Baby Brittany couldn’t be more adorable. They say the eyes are the window of the soul–what a beautiful and brilliant soul!
Alanah is my new Senior Model Rep from Holly High School! We had a test shoot recently at Lakeside Park in Holly where she showed her playful side by floating around with her French Horn. Alanah also plays piano; as she says, “I’m pretty involved in music – my entire family has been at one point or another.” This is just one aspect of her artsy side, as she also enjoys writing creatively. Poetry, narratives, and short essays are her favorite.
Alanah and I will be having a full portrait session this summer, so there is more to come from this talented lady. When I asked her about her plans when she graduates she said, “After high school, I’m looking into both working as a special education teacher focusing on children with autism as well as business marketing. I know they’re total opposites.. 🙂 I’m extremely involved in my church and my truest passion in life is helping others. If I can help others with even the smallest thing, I feel like I’m fulfilling my role in life.”
Not *so* opposite in my view; to quote Charles Dickens, “Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business! ”
Truly beautiful, inside and out, Alanah is someone you enjoy being around. A self described nerd, she makes being a nerd seem cool! Happy and genial, in her free time she enjoys being with, “my nerdy friends who are always good for a laugh or a good tennis match in the sunshine. I try to keep a positive outlook on life – puddles are for jumping in and rain is for dancing in. The way to my heart is through a mug of chai tea and some good music.”
