I finally got to see the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Thanks to the lovely Deanna and her mom, Sandy, and dad, Pat. When I first spoke with Sandy on the phone we all lit on the idea–especially Deanna! There happens to be a bench in the Sculpture Park near “the horse” (if you’ve been, you know exactly what I’m talking about!) which is dedicated to Deanna’s grandfather.
When we arrived it was a really beautiful late winter afternoon with a fresh snow on the ground. The butterflies were blooming in the tropical conservatory and so we had an opportunity to get portraits with a summer feel, as well as some outdoor winter portraits. And I couldn’t resist turning my camera on a few of the butterflies that swirled around us like drunken beauties! Of course there is method to their erratic flight patterns, but we simply enjoyed their bright colors and charm.
As always, it was hard to settle on just a few favorite images to share here; and it’s a must that I sneak in a few photos of the butterflies and flowers that were everywhere around us.
