Last night my son, Mark, and I went to the Lake Michigan shore to see the sunset. Well after a very sunny day the clouds rolled in just in time to veil the setting sun completely. Still there was frozen beauty and fun. Mark found a meat tenderizer, of all things, and became “Thor!” god of thunder. 🙂
The Grand Haven Lighthouse was remarkably beautiful, drenched in a thick coating of ice. We saw geese on the wing, frozen waves, an empty beach; maybe the most fun of all were the colored ice balls! A woman and her friend had brought them–they were made with colored water and water balloons. Her friend was taking her photo with them on the dunes and allowed me to take her picture as well. They left them behind and they are probably there still–the only spot of color on the winter beach.
